Area Baseball & Softball Accolades

Stephenville placed four players on the 2017 All-District 8-4A baseball team, including the league’s Pitcher of the Year Easton Jones.

  • Other first team selections for the Jackets were senior pitcher Caleb Gibbons, sophomore infielder Derek Gifford and sophomore catcher Cody Storrs, who was named as a utility player.
    • In District 8-4A softball, the top two teams – Stephenville and Godley – led the way in all-district selections. Each team had 9 players recognized.
      • Here are some of the highlights…
        • For an unprecedented fourth time, Godley’s Abby Reeves was voted as the district MVP.
        • Stephenville senior Nadine Arredondo was voted the district’s offensive player of the year while fellow Honeybee senior Sami Shaffer received catcher of the year. Stephenville junior Julia Flores was named the league’s pitcher of the year while Stephenville Coach Rus Mayes received the district’s coach of the year honor.
        • Alvarado sophomore center fielder Faith Waugh was voted the district’s defensive player of the year for a second straight season.
        • Godley junior Briana Brummer received the district’sutility player of the year.
        • Godley freshman Lexi Ebbens was named the league’s newcomer of the year
        • Glen Rose had two first-team selections, senior Lauren Forkner and junior Sydney Lozier.
